Job Description

We are seeking two experienced UKCAA issued B1.3 Licensed Engineers to join a our clients team that supports both Search & Rescue (SAR) and support helicopter operations from their Falklands SAR Base.

The role involves line and base maintenance on S92A and AW189 aircraft, ensuring operational readiness in a demanding and remote environment.

Location: Falkland Islands – Mount Pleasant Airfield (MPA)
Roster: Equal Time – 42 Days On / 42 Days Off

Key Responsibilities

  • Certifying maintenance at B1.3 level on S92 (AW189 type rating or Goodrich Hoist training an advantage).

  • Carrying out line maintenance, modifications, repairs, fault diagnosis, and component changes on S92/AW189 aircraft.

  • Ensuring compliance with CAA regulatory standards on all maintenance tasks.

  • Delivering aircraft serviceability within agreed timeframes to meet operational commitments.

  • Maintaining and improving engineering and safety standards across the operation.

  • Reporting maintenance status and progress to the Chief Engineer.

  • Supporting ground operations: marshalling, refueling, and aircraft handling.

  • Mentoring trainees and supporting the development of junior staff where required.

 

Your Profile

The successful engineer will:

  • Hold a valid CAA Part 66 B1.3 License with S92 type rating (AW189 type rating desirable).

  • Demonstrate a proven background in safe, efficient aircraft maintenance operations.

  • Be able to work effectively under pressure and in challenging weather conditions.

  • Possess strong communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Be IT literate, with working knowledge of MS Office (experience with ERP systems such as SAP, eMX, or RAMCO is advantageous).

  • Be an effective team player, adaptable to the requirements of a remote operation.

  • Be eligible to live and work in the Falkland Islands, or meet the requirements for a Falkland Islands work permit (including compliance with immigration, medical, and security clearance processes).

 

Additional Information

  • Travel to and from the Falkland Islands is via the Brize Norton Airbridge (approx. 16 hours).

  • Accommodation is on-base with meals provided (3 per day).

  • Operations are split between SAR and military support, utilising 2x AW189 (SAR) and 2x S92 (support operations).

  • Roster pattern: 24 hours on / 24 hours off, rotating shifts between 0730–midday and midday–2200. Standby availability is required during off-duty periods in case of SAR callouts (typically 10–15 per year).

  • Each shift team is supported by 5 engineers.
