Volantes is proud to be representing a leading aviation operator in Papua New Guinea, who are seeking an experienced Deputy Rotary Wing Chief Pilot to join their team on a touring basis.

This is a senior leadership role, reporting to the Accountable Manager, with responsibility for the safe and efficient management of all rotary-wing operations in line with CASA PNG regulations, OGP guidelines, and BARS requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and oversight of rotary-wing flight operations in accordance with CAR 119.51(b) and company policy.

  • Maintain flying currency as a backup pilot to support operational needs.

  • Ensure all operations comply with applicable aviation legislation, company approvals, and operational manuals.

  • Oversee flight crew administration, including rostering, record-keeping, and monitoring of crew licensing, qualifications, and recency.

  • Establish and manage systems for pilot and crew training and checking, including emergency procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Liaise with aviation authorities and internal departments on operational matters.

  • Conduct visits to remote operational sites as required.

  • Provide regular weekly and monthly operational reports to senior management.

  • Monitor and respond to safety reports, incidents, and operational concerns.

  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure aircraft are maintained to operational requirements.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of 5,000 hours total flying experience.

  • Endorsed on at least one of the following types: H145, AS332, AW139, Bell 212/412, Bell 407, S-76.

  • Previous management and/or Check & Training/CRM experience.

  • ATPL (Helicopter).

  • IFR experience highly regarded.

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to foster safety and professionalism.

  • Solid understanding of risk assessment and risk management principles.
