Job Description

Volantes Technical Recruitment has been engaged, on a confidential basis, to identify a combined Part-145 & CAMO Manager for a leading helicopter operator running a Search & Rescue (SAR) operation within the European Union.

As this is a single combined position, our client is looking for one individual with the experience to fulfil both the CAMO and Part-145 Nominated Person roles. The successful candidate will ideally already be based within the EU and must hold the right to work in the EU.

The CAMO & Part-145 Maintenance Manager is responsible for the management of continuing airworthiness and maintenance activities, ensuring the organisation's aircraft remain airworthy, compliant, safe, and available for operations in accordance with EASA Part-CAMO, Part-145, the Safety Management System (SMS), company/group procedures, and customer contractual obligations.

The postholder fulfils the roles and responsibilities of the Nominated Person for CAMO and Part-145 as required by EASA, the relevant national aviation authority (EASA member state), and company requirements. Key elements of the purpose include:

• Acting as Nominated Person for CAMO and Part-145 as required by EASA, the relevant national aviation authority, and company requirements.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant continuing airworthiness management requirements in accordance with EASA Part-M, Part-CAMO and Part-145.
• Reviewing and processing updated and new applicable regulation within company documentation.
• Notifying the Accountable Manager whenever deficiencies emerge which require their attention in respect of financial decision-making, the acceptability of standards, or the execution of responsibilities.
• Ensuring the organisation's compliance with the company SMS and occurrence-reporting responsibilities.
• Supervising and managing all continuing airworthiness activities, ensuring they are efficient and optimised to deliver maximum aircraft availability.
• Ensuring that aircraft and components are maintained to the requirements of Part-145 and in compliance with Part-CAMO contracted requirements.
• Ensuring the CAMO and MOE are aligned with the group and implemented across all bases.
• Overseeing the development, update, and approval/acceptance of the Aircraft Maintenance Programme.
• Managing and archiving all aircraft continuing airworthiness records and technical logs.
• Ensuring the application of all applicable Airworthiness Directives (ADs), operational directives with airworthiness impact, and life-limited parts replacements.
• Ensuring the provision of sufficient competent personnel.
• Leading and managing a team of CAMO and Part-145 staff to ensure delivery of safe operations, and maintaining and developing the team's capability and capacity.
• Managing contracted (third-party) maintenance providers to meet maintenance demands.
• Liaising with the national aviation authority regarding the CAMO and Part-145 approval.

• Ensure that Management of Change is applied to changes.
• Manage Safety Performance Indicators.
• Ensure that contracted and subcontracted activities are controlled and monitored.
• Ensure the timely implementation and closure of audit findings.
• Ensure that personnel competence is maintained.
• Participate in management system governance meetings as required (e.g. SAG / SRB).

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Comprehensive, working knowledge of the relevant parts of EASA regulations (Part-M, Part-CAMO, Part-145, Part-66 and applicable national regulations), operational requirements and procedures.
• A relevant engineering degree (aeronautical) or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification with additional education acceptable to the competent authority.

Experience

• At least five years' relevant work experience, of which at least two years should be in the aeronautical industry in an appropriate position.
• Helicopter maintenance / CAMO experience (rotary preferred; strong fixed-wing candidates will also be considered).
• Previous management experience.
• Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating / maintenance practices.

Skills & Attributes

• Knowledge of the Leonardo AW189 or a relevant aircraft type, gained through a formalised training course.
• Knowledge of maintenance methods.
• Knowledge of human factors principles.
• Comprehensive, working knowledge of quality systems.
• Ability to hold EASA Nominated Person CAMO and Part-145 positions within 3 to 6 months.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; a second European language is an advantage.
• Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Able to deliver to targets and deadlines, and to work in a pressured environment.
• Preferably a working knowledge of the Ramco MRO system.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Ability to plan and prioritise work, both individually and as a team.
• Ability to interface effectively with leadership, management, and internal and external clients.
• Ability to manage resources effectively.
• Must meet the requirements of Part-145.A.30.
