The Opportunity
Volantes Technical Recruitment is supporting a leading UK helicopter operator with the recruitment of UKCAA B1.3 Licensed Aircraft Engineers for their Search and Rescue base at MPA in the Falkland Islands.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced UKCAA B1.3 Engineer to join a well-established SAR operation, working an equal-time roster with excellent time-off, working on S92 and AW189 aircraft in one of the most operationally interesting environments in the world.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you'll carry out line and base maintenance in support of the operational SAR flying requirement, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis, rectification, and component changes on the S92A and AW189 fleet.

Key Responsibilities
- Certification at B1.3 level on S92 (AW189 type rating and/or Goodrich Hoist training would be an advantage)
- Line maintenance, modification, repairs and component changes on S92/AW189 and other aircraft as required
- Ensure all maintenance tasks meet CAA regulatory standards
- Help maintain and improve Company standards
- Ensure maintenance is completed within appropriate time scales to support operational aircraft availability
- Keep the Chief Engineer informed on the maintenance situation
- Marshalling, supervising refuelling activities and ground handling of aircraft
- Mentor trainees where assigned
Person Specification
Essential:
- UKCAA Part 66 B1.3 Licence (essential)
- Ideally 1 or both the S92 or AW189 Rating however the client will consider non rated engineers with a view to enrolling on next available course.
- Proven experience carrying out aircraft maintenance safely, efficiently and effectively
- Ability to work in all weathers and under time pressure
- IT literate – confident with MS Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a small team
- Flexibility to support a remote operation
- Eligible to work in the Falkland Islands or able to meet Falkland Island work permit requirements
Desirable:
- Goodrich Hoist training / experience
- Working knowledge of ERP systems – SAP / eMX / RAMCO
- Previous SAR or offshore helicopter experience
Compliance & Clearances
The successful candidate will need to comply with local Immigration Policies, Medical Requirements, and Security Clearance Processes to obtain a relevant work permit, if not already a resident in the Falkland Islands. Our client will support this process.
