Job Description
The Role
We're working on behalf of a leading renewables and construction business to find a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take full commercial ownership across a portfolio of large-scale projects. You'll sit at the heart of the commercial function — driving cost control, managing contracts end-to-end, and protecting margin from pre-contract through to final account.
This is a senior, client-facing position where you'll work closely with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders, while mentoring junior members of the commercial team. If you're a commercially sharp QS with a main contractor background and a hunger to work in the energy transition space, this is the one.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading cost planning, budgeting, and feasibility studies across multiple projects simultaneously
- Drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers — negotiating terms and managing change
- Tracking actual costs against budget throughout the project lifecycle and producing accurate forecasts, cost reports, and cash flows
- Identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities; flagging and managing commercial risk
- Preparing tender documents, bills of quantities, and procurement packs; evaluating returns from contractors and subcontractors
- Resolving contractual disputes and managing claims with confidence
- Conducting site visits to monitor progress and compliance against design and safety standards
- Liaising across project, engineering, and client teams to ensure smooth, accurate project delivery
- Mentoring and developing junior quantity surveyors and commercial support staff
