Volantes Technical Recruitment is supporting the growth of a leading UK EV charging infrastructure provider and is currently recruiting for an Electrical Field Service Engineer to cover South London and surrounding areas.
This is a field-based role responsible for the commissioning, maintenance, and repair of AC, Rapid DC, Ultra and High-Power Charging (HPC) EV chargers across multiple sites. The position suits an electrically qualified engineer who is confident working independently, delivering high-quality technical support, and representing a professional service-led organisation on site.
You will play a key role in ensuring EV charging assets operate safely, reliably, and at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities
-
Commission, configure, and test AC and Rapid DC EV chargers at client sites
-
Carry out initial setup and verification to ensure correct operation and compliance with industry standards

Perform routine, preventative, and reactive maintenance to maximise uptime and reliability

Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software-related faults
-
Conduct diagnostic testing, firmware updates, and calibration as required
-
Replace faulty components and, where necessary, complete full charger replacements in line with manufacturer guidelines

Provide on-site technical support and basic operational training to clients

Respond promptly to service requests and maintain clear, professional communication with site stakeholders

Work collaboratively with service coordination, operations, project management, and installation teams

Accurately document all service activities, repairs, and customer interactions within the service management system

Maintain company tools, equipment, and assets in good working order, reporting defects immediately

Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health & safety requirements, company policies, and local electrical regulations

Participate in ongoing safety training and technical certifications as required
Essential Requirements

NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification (or equivalent)

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a field-based electrical engineering role

Proven ability to work independently on client sites without direct supervision

Experience operating within SLA-driven environments

Competent use of test and measurement equipment (e.g. multimeters, voltage testers)

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability

Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
-
Effective time management when travelling between sites

Full UK driving licence with 6 penalty points or fewer
Desirable Experience & Qualifications

BS7671:2018 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)

City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 – Inspection & Testing

Previous experience within EV charging, renewable energy, or power electronics

Manufacturer-specific EV charger training or certification
-
Hands-on experience with Rapid DC, Ultra and HPC chargers
-
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
-
Understanding of analogue and digital electronics
-
Strong awareness of electrical hazards and on-site health & safety requirements
