Volantes are delighted to be supporting one of our long-standing, well-established rotary aviation partners in Oxford with the recruitment of an experienced B1.3 Type Training Instructor / Examiner to join their Part-147 training team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in shaping and delivering high-quality rotary training programmes within one of the UK’s most respected helicopter operations.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will deliver both theoretical and practical type training, act as an examiner and practical assessor, and play an integral role in maintaining the highest standards of aviation training in line with CAA and EASA Part-66 & Part-147 regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver theoretical and practical type training for approved aircraft and engine types.

Act as a Theoretical Examiner and Practical Assessor in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Develop and maintain training course materials, question banks, and presentations.

Invigilate theoretical examinations, ensuring compliance with regulatory procedures.

Coordinate examination timetables and maintain exam security and validity.

Support the Training Manager during periods of absence.

Ensure adherence to company training and engineering procedures.

Travel within the UK and overseas to deliver or receive training as required.

Essential Skills & Experience
-
Extensive practical experience on the following aircraft and engine types:
-
EC135 (all variants)
-
MBB BK117-D2 and C2
-
SAFRAN Arrius 2B Series, Arriel 2E, and PWC PW206 engines
-

Strong working knowledge of CAA/EASA regulations including CAP1528, CAP1529, and EASA UG.CAO.00154-002.

Proven experience as a Theoretical Examiner and Practical Assessor.

Ability to design and deliver comprehensive training courses and materials.
-
English language proficiency at CEFR B1 level or above.

Desirable Skills
-
Experience with Google Suite and synthetic training devices.

Previous work within a civil training organisation.

Understanding of EASA UG.CAO.00169.

Familiarity with distance learning methods.

Qualifications
-
Hold a Part-147 B1 Type Certificate of Recognition on the following aircraft/engines:

Eurocopter MBB BK117-C2 / D2 (D2 & D3 models)

Turbomeca Arriel 2E
-
Eurocopter EC135T / EC135P
-
Airbus EC135T3H / EC135P3H
-
Turbomeca Arrius 2B / PWC PW206 engines
-
-
Instructor Certificate recognised by the relevant national authority.

Desirable: CAA B1.3 licence for applicable types.

Ability to obtain DBS and SC security clearance.

Must meet Export Compliance Regulations.
