Head of Safety & Compliance (Air Operations)

Location: Dublin (Hybrid working available)

Volantes Technical Recruitment has an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Safety and Compliance (Air Operations) in Dublin. This is a key nominated postholder role responsible for overseeing operational safety and regulatory compliance across flight operations.

You will lead the development and continuous improvement of the Compliance Monitoring System (CMS) and Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring alignment with EASA, IAA, and ICAO requirements. You will also act as the main liaison with regulatory authorities and advise the Accountable Manager and senior management.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure ongoing compliance with the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and all relevant regulations (EASA, IAA, ICAO)

• Lead internal audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance investigations

• Maintain and enhance the Compliance Monitoring System

• Oversee safety performance, hazard identification, and operational risk management

• Support development and review of Operations Manuals (OM-A to OM-D)

• Provide leadership in integrating SMS and CMS across operational departments

• Manage occurrence reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)

• Act as the focal point for compliance and safety matters across the organisation

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior compliance, regulatory, or safety role within an AOC environment

• Strong knowledge of EASA regulations, ICAO SARPs, and IAA requirements

• Proven experience managing audits and liaising with competent authorities

• Solid understanding of SMS, CMS, and compliance frameworks in air operations

• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills

• Professional fluency in English with strong analytical and documentation abilities
