Job Description
Volantes Technical Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a leading aviation organisation in the search for an experienced Safety Management System (SMS) Manager to join their operation in St Athan.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an aviation safety professional with strong Part 145 knowledge and practical SMS experience to play a key role within a growing and highly regulated maintenance environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Compliance Monitoring Manager (Part 145), the successful candidate will support the ongoing management and development of the company Safety Management System, while assisting in maintaining regulatory compliance and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of the company SMS
- Conducting safety investigations as required
- Administration and monitoring of the occurrence reporting system
- Supporting Safety Action Group (SAG) meetings and related material
- Assisting with Safety Review Board (SRB) presentations
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of the Part 145 audit programme
- Monitoring organisational safety performance and reporting findings where required
- Assisting with hazard identification, risk assessment and mitigation activities
- Supporting the company authorisation system
- Promoting company safety policy and SMS awareness across the business
Experience & Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong working knowledge of EASA / UK CAA Part 145 regulations
- Practical experience within a Part 145 maintenance environment
- Experience conducting aviation safety investigations
- Current Human Factors, EWIS and Fuel Tank Safety (FTS) training
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to work independently
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a UK airside pass
Desirable
- Qualified aviation auditor experience
- Knowledge of Part 66 requirements
