Volantes Technical Recruitment is supporting a leading aviation and defence organisation in the search for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join their team based at RAF Valley, Wales.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly specialised aviation environment, ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of advanced aircraft systems while leading a skilled maintenance team.
The Role
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you will play a key leadership role within the engineering team, ensuring aircraft maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with operational requirements.
Your technical expertise and leadership will help maintain high standards of airworthiness, compliance, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities

Review operational performance of aircraft systems and components

Analyse and diagnose faults, applying technical expertise to repair, modify, or improve maintenance procedures

Ensure the engineering team meets maintenance schedules and operational targets

Resolve technical or operational issues and escalate where required

Maintain personal and team competencies for aircraft and component maintenance
-
Promote safe working practices and aviation safety standards
-
Demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach while supporting operational requirements
Essential Experience

Proven leadership experience within an aircraft maintenance environment

Fully qualified aircraft technician with relevant authorities and certifications

Demonstrated experience supported by a comprehensive logbook of skills, knowledge, and authorisations

Strong foundation in aircraft maintenance, diagnostics, and engineering principles

Extensive experience applying aviation safety standards and safe operating practices
Qualifications

Completed Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or recognised military equivalent

City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or equivalent qualification
-
Strong technical knowledge gained through structured training and hands-on maintenance experience
Security Clearance
Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.
Eligibility for clearance may be affected by factors such as nationality, citizenship, and residency history.
