Role Overview
Volantes Technical Recruitment are seeking an AW139/AW109 B2 Avionic Licensed Senior Technician to perform and certify avionic maintenance activities on AW139 and AW109 helicopters in accordance with EASA Part-145 requirements and company procedures.
The position provides advanced hands-on expertise in avionics systems, heavy maintenance inputs, electrical troubleshooting, and retrofit/upgrade installations. The role plays a critical part in ensuring system reliability, regulatory compliance, technical quality, and on-time aircraft delivery.
Based on operational needs, the technician may also support AOG recovery and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
Avionic Maintenance & Certification
- Perform and certify scheduled and unscheduled avionic maintenance on AW139 and AW109 helicopters.
- Act as certifying staff within the scope of company authorisation (CRS).
- Execute and supervise:
- Avionic system inspections and functional testing
- Electrical and wiring troubleshooting
- LRU replacement and system integration checks
- Avionic upgrades and retrofit installations
- Modification embodiment in accordance with approved data
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is properly completed, signed, and traceable.
- Support aircraft release to service in accordance with Part-145.
Heavy Maintenance & Retrofit Expertise
- Participate actively in heavy maintenance inputs involving avionic systems.
- Lead installation and integration of:
- Navigation systems
- Communication systems
- Mission equipment
- Cabin management and special mission systems
- Interpret and apply AMM,IPC,WDM,SRM,TSM, wiring diagrams and modification documentation.
Advanced Troubleshooting
- Act as technical reference for complex electrical and avionic defects.
- Lead fault isolation and root-cause analysis activities.
- Perform on-field troubleshooting during AOG or operational support.
Required Profile
- Minimum 8 years of documented hands-on experience in helicopter avionics
- Valid EASA Part-66 B2
- Valid AW139 Type Rating
- Valid AW109 Type Rating
- Proven experience within an EASA Part-145 organisation
- Strong experience in heavy maintenance and avionic upgrades/retrofits
- Proven field troubleshooting capability
- Ability to work autonomously in high-tempo maintenance environments
- Structured technical mindset with strong accountability
