Volantes Technical Recruitment is supporting the growth of a leading UK EV infrastructure provider and is now looking to speak with Field Service Engineers based anywhere in and around Liverpool.
This is a field-based role focused on the commissioning, maintenance, and repair of AC, Rapid DC, Ultra and High-Power Charging (HPC) EV chargers across multiple client sites. It’s a great opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems, and being part of the UK’s transition to cleaner transport.

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring EV charging assets operate safely, reliably, and at peak performance. The role involves working across a variety of environments, including outdoor locations and confined spaces. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
Key responsibilities include:

Commissioning, configuring, and testing AC and Rapid DC chargers

Carrying out routine, preventative, and reactive maintenance

Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical, and software faults

Completing firmware updates, calibration, and diagnostic testing

Replacing faulty components and, where required, full charger units
-
Providing on-site technical support and basic user training
-
Working closely with service coordination, operations, and project teams
-
Accurately recording all service activity within the service management system

Ensuring strict adherence to health & safety and electrical compliance standards
Essential Requirements

NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification (or equivalent)

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a field-based electrical engineering role

Ability to work independently on client sites

Experience operating in SLA-driven environments
-
Competent use of test and measurement equipment
-
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
-
Confident communicator with a customer-focused mindset

Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
Desirable

BS7671:2018 (18th Edition)
-
City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 (Testing & Inspection)
-
Experience within EV charging, renewables, or power electronics

Manufacturer-specific EV charger training or certification
-
Experience with Rapid DC, Ultra, and HPC chargers

Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
-
Good understanding of analogue and digital electronics
