Volantes Technical Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our long-standing client in the South East of England for a Head of Safety & Compliance.

This is a senior and highly influential position, responsible for driving a strong safety culture across all operational and training activities. The successful candidate will ensure full regulatory compliance, lead the organisation’s safety programmes, and continuously strengthen the Safety Management System.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Safety & Compliance Department.

• Own and oversee the company-wide Audit Plan.

• Conduct internal audits and audits of sub-contractor organisations.

• Manage corrective actions and audit findings to closure.

• Prepare, review, and analyse compliance monitoring performance data.

• Provide expert compliance and regulatory advice across all functions.

• Liaise with external auditors, authorities, and regulatory bodies.

• Promote and embed a safety-first culture across the organisation.

• Lead investigations, including root-cause analysis and reporting.

• Oversee hazard identification and risk assessment processes.

• Monitor, track, and present Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).

• Develop and deliver safety-related training where required.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience within a similar safety/compliance role.

• Strong working knowledge of CAA/EASA regulations and management systems.

• Qualified and experienced auditor (internal and external audits).

• Proven experience conducting safety investigations (trained investigator).

• Proficient user of Centrik.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Must be within a reasonable commuting distance of Biggin Hill Airport.
