Volantes Technical Recruitment, on behalf of our world-renowned Saudi based Rotary client have the role of Flight Safety Manager available.
Summary
The Safety Manager P133/P135 is responsible to the Director of Safety for the performance of the Safety Management System, the Safety Assurance Program, and all safety and risk management functions related to the company’s operations conducted under P133/P135 Air Operators Certificate.
The position shall assist in the development and administration of the SMS to meet the clients policies, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance for the achievement of Safety and Operational Excellence.
Responsibilities
Safety
- Assess the level to which SMS provisions are effective and satisfy the companies strategic business requirements across P133/135 operations.
- Conduct periodic safety and quality audits in conjunction Quality team to ensure SMS requirements are being achieved.
- Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessment across all aspects of P133/135 activities and the wider business.
- Manage through to completion all safety and issue reports received under P133/135 operations.
- Lead investigation of accidents associated with P133/135 operations and document the outcomes within required reports and action plans.
- Coordinate occurrence and hazard investigations associated with P133/135 operations.
- Lead the development of Safety Cases for all P133/135 operations and identify priority areas for the development of risk controls.
- Assist in the maintenance and management of the companies Hazard/Risk Register.
- Monitor, assess, and assure the effectiveness of safety risk controls identified under P133/135 operations.
- Monitor corrective/preventative actions across the P133/135 organization and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Assist in the development, execution, and maintenance of vigorous and dynamic Safety Programs at all Bases/Deployments.
- Ensuring safety promotion throughout the P133/135 organization and wider business.
- Provide analysis and reporting of SMS performance within P133/135 operations.
- Participate in Management meetings at which the adequacy of the SMS is reviewed.
- Participate in Safety Meetings on a regular basis, provide minutes of meetings and record action outcomes for tracking.
- Assist other Safety Managers within the business in fulfilment of their responsibilities.
- Regularly report to the Director of Safety on the performance of the SMS within Part P133/135 and on any need for improvement.
Leadership

- Aid a ‘just and learning’ culture within the deployment through appropriate statements and reactions to occurrences.
- Develop a focused safety culture within all departments, with particular emphasis within P133/135 operations.
- Monitor staff achievements, perform periodic performance appraisals, and provide guidance, coaching or training to direct reports in performing their delegated duties
- Demonstrate a disciplined approach to safety priorities, time management, task management, and actions tracking for achievement of high performance and on-time delivery.
- Provide mentoring and improvement programs for direct reports within the safety organization.
- Ensure all work delivered under his/her responsibility meets agreed standards for timeliness and quality.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to work and information.
- Provide open and honest feedback on perceptions regarding Management’s commitment to SMS.
Qualifications
- Hold or have held an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) for Air Operators and Pilots training organizations
- Or Aviation Maintenance Engineer Certificate/Airframe & Power plant License/Certificate for repair stations
- Have at least on of the following Training ( Safety Management System , Safety Risk Management , Emergency Response
- Plan/Crisis Management , Quality Management System , Audit Techniques , Human Factors , Accident Investigation )
Experience & Skills
- Ideally 7+ years’ experience in aviation industry of which two years in the related field (e.g., Air Operators, Training Organization, etc.)
- 3+ years’ experience and expertise in the aviation Safety Management System (implementation and improvement).
- Technical background to understand the systems that support the Certificate holder’s operations.
- Experience and qualifications in conducting safety/quality audits and inspections.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety standards, safety investigations, and GACA regulations.
- Experience in Aircraft Accident Investigation
- Solid experience in data analysis and reporting
- Understanding of human factors principles, Analytical and problem-solving skills, Communication skills, Project management skills)
