Job Description

Principal Electrical Load & Power Management Engineer

Location: UAE
Level: Principal Engineer
Type: Permanent

About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Electrical Load & Power Management Engineer to take ownership of the aircraft's electrical load analysis, power budget and power management strategy.

You will be responsible for understanding how electrical power is used across the aircraft, managing competing power demands, and ensuring essential and flight-critical systems remain powered during normal and failure conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the aircraft electrical load analysis and power budget, including flight phases, duty cycles, growth allowances and margins.

  • Manage and negotiate electrical power requirements across different aircraft systems.

  • Define essential and emergency electrical buses, load categorisation and load-shedding strategies.

  • Develop power management and automatic reconfiguration logic.

  • Ensure flight-critical systems can continue operating following loss of a power source or electrical bus.

  • Support aircraft safety assessments, including electrical failure modes and continued safe flight and landing analysis.

  • Characterise electrical loads for mission and medical equipment.

  • Provide electrical power and energy requirements to the wider aircraft integration team.

  • Define and support power quality and electrical load testing, including load-bank and integration testing.

Requirements – Must Have

  • 10+ years' experience in aircraft electrical systems engineering.

  • At least 4 years' experience owning or maintaining aircraft electrical load analysis and power budgets.

  • Strong experience with essential and emergency electrical architecture.

  • Experience with load categorisation, load shedding and power management on certified or safety-critical aircraft.

  • Experience defining power management and reconfiguration logic and supporting its safety assessment.

  • Experience with electrical power quality analysis and testing.

  • Proven ability to manage electrical power budgets across multiple engineering disciplines.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience on electric or hybrid-electric aircraft.

  • Experience with EMS, medical or mission equipment electrical loads.

  • Experience with automatic electrical reconfiguration or power management software.

  • Experience supporting electrical certification and compliance for load and emergency power systems.
