Volantes Technical Recruitment is currently seeking a Chief Pilot to join one of the UK’s leading helicopter MROs.

 

The role of Chief Pilot is responsible for:

  • Overall responsibility for the safety of all flying operations.
  • Ensuring the conformity of flight operations and flying training programmes with legal and company standards, particularly in relation to safety criteria and the competence of flying staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements across all aspects of crewing and route planning.
  • Ensuring that the provision of flying staff meets anticipated requirements with maximum efficiency, while adhering to mandatory limitations and maintaining high internal standards and practices.
  • Ensuring that operations reports and records are actioned as necessary, preserved for the prescribed periods, and made available to the relevant authorities when required.
  • Representing the Flight Operations Department at Safety Review Board and company management meetings.
  • Representing the company during all CAA flight operations audits.
  • Leading Flight Operations Safety Action Group meetings on a regular basis.
  • Liaising with other Heads of Department to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
  • Overseeing the management of change when new activities are introduced within the Flight Operations Department.
  • Ensuring that flight staff fulfilling nominated posts as part of the AOC carry out their roles and responsibilities effectively, in accordance with the company Flight Operations Manuals and associated documents.
  • Supervising the production and distribution of all parts of the Company Operations Manual, including amendments.
  • Working in conjunction with the Safety and Compliance Manager to control and coordinate company actions in the event of aircraft accidents or incidents, in accordance with procedures outlined in the Operations Manual (Part A, Section 11).
  • Overseeing the overall organisation, administration, and discipline of all Operations staff (both flying and non-flying), and making recommendations to the Accountable Manager regarding recruitment, discipline, and dismissal.
  • Liaising with external authorities and organisations on behalf of the company, as required.
  • Maintaining aircrew confidence, discipline, control, and supervision.
  • Ensuring that Flight Time Limitations requirements are met.
  • Working with the Safety and Compliance Manager to ensure that hazard and incident/accident reports are actioned appropriately, and participating in their investigation and review.
  • Ensuring the timely closure of all findings and observations resulting from CAA audits.
  • Issuing Flying Staff Instructions as required.
  • Accepting and signing for training and testing on behalf of the company.
  • Conducting and/or supervising flight and ground training and checking of flying staff.
  • Ensuring that Operations Manuals, Flight Guides, AIPs, and other relevant materials are kept fully updated.
  • Approving and assessing the suitability of all maps, charts, and Flight Guides.
