Operations Safety Officer

Location: Dubai, UAE

 

Volantes Technical Recruitment has an incredible new role for an Operations Safety Officer to join one of our leading clients in the UAE!

 

Position Overview
The Operations Safety Officer ensures the highest safety standards across flight and ground operations by developing, implementing, and monitoring Safety Management Systems (SMS). The role includes risk identification, incident investigation, compliance oversight, and promoting a strong safety culture.

 

Key Responsibilities

Safety Management System (SMS):

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s SMS per regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of flight and ground operations to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Track and analyze safety performance metrics, providing regular reports to management.
  • Participate in flight and ground Safety Action Groups.
  • Support organizational changes affecting safety.
  • Handle general safety administration.

Incident and Hazard Management:

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain an incident reporting system, ensuring accurate documentation and timely follow-up.
  • Manage operational risks for flight and ground activities.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with aviation, flight, ground, and heliport safety regulations.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and industry organizations on safety matters.
  • Stay current on operational safety regulations and industry standards.

Training and Communication:

  • Provide safety training for flight crews, ground staff, and other personnel as needed.
  • Promote safety awareness and a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Prepare and share safety notices, updates, and communications.
  • Assist with safety surveys.

Emergency Response:

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the emergency response plan.
  • Conduct drills and training to ensure emergency readiness.

Health and Safety:

  • Promote occupational health and safety in flight and ground operations.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A broad Aviation/Technical education
  • Good analytical skill
  • Ability to communicate at all levels – oral and written.
  • Safety Management System experience
  • Ability to confidently use Microsoft Products – Word/Excel and Power Point.
  • Must be able to create and update documents and manuals.

 

Training Required

  • GCAA SMS Training 
  • Human Factors Training
