Volantes Technical Recruitment are seeking a Safety Investigation Manager for leading fixed wing client in Dublin with options for Hybrid work.
As the Safety Investigation Manager, you will be instrumental in upholding and enhancing our commitment to aviation safety. In this role, you will lead thorough investigations into safety incidents, identify potential operational risks, and drive improvements to our Safety Management System (SMS). Your efforts will ensure that we not only meet but exceed compliance with aviation safety regulations. Additionally, you will play a key role in fostering a proactive safety culture, collaborating with teams across the airline to identify and address safety concerns before they escalate.
Based at our Dublin headquarters, this hybrid role offers the flexibility of remote work alongside regular in-office collaboration, allowing you to engage with key stakeholders and drive initiatives. You will also have opportunities to travel, supporting compliance activities and safety assessments across our operations.
Duties and Responsibilities

Lead safety investigations into incidents, accidents, and hazards, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.

Develop and implement investigation protocols in line with EASA, ICAO, FAA, IAA, CAA, and other regulatory standards.

Analyse safety reports and operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Collaborate with key departments (Flight Operations, Engineering & Maintenance, Ground
Operations) to promote a proactive safety approach.

Enhance the Safety Management System (SMS) by integrating investigation findings into
continuous improvement initiatives.

Prepare detailed safety reports and present findings to the Leadership Team.

Liaise with regulatory authorities and industry organisations to ensure compliance and share
best practices.

Deliver safety training and workshops to strengthen safety awareness and culture.

Oversee safety audits and support risk assessment processes.

• Maintain knowledge of the emergency response programme policies, processes, and procedures, as defined by the Emergency Response Procedures. Be prepared to respond in a crisis as an ERP representative, if required by the role.
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Aviation Safety, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field.

Demonstrable experience in aviation safety investigations or a similar role within an airline,
regulatory body, or safety organisation.

Strong knowledge of SMS principles and regulatory frameworks (EASA, FAA, IAA, CAA, etc.).

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.

Strong communication and report-writing skills.

Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.

Certification in aviation safety investigation (e.g., ICAO, IATA, or equivalent) is a plus.

Proficiency in safety investigation tools and data analysis software.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Advanced qualifications in aviation safety, accident investigation, or risk management (e.g., MSc in Aviation Safety, Certified Aviation Safety Officer).

Professional certifications such as NEBOSH in Health & Safety, IOSH or Aviation Human Factors Certification.

Experience with Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).

Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Familiarity with aviation risk management methodologies.

Familiarity with safety management software such as Centrik and SMS reporting tools.

Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.

Experience implementing safety improvement initiatives within an airline.
