Job Description
Job Summary
The Flight Safety Manager (P133/P135) is responsible for ensuring the effective performance of the Safety Management System (SMS), the Safety Assurance Program, and all risk-management functions associated with operations conducted under a P133/P135 Air Operator Certificate.
The role supports the development, administration, and continuous improvement of the SMS to meet organisational policies, regulatory requirements, and operational safety standards.
Main Responsibilities
Safety

Evaluate SMS effectiveness and ensure alignment with organisational safety objectives across P133/P135 operations.

Conduct periodic safety and quality audits with the Quality Team.

Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessments across all operational activities.

Oversee the management and closure of safety and issue reports under P133/P135 operations.
-
Lead investigations of accidents/incidents and prepare required reports and action plans.
-
Coordinate occurrence and hazard investigations.
-
Lead development of Safety Cases and prioritisation of risk-control initiatives.
-
Contribute to maintenance and management of the organisation’s Hazard/Risk Register.

Monitor and assess the effectiveness of implemented safety risk controls.
-
Track corrective and preventive actions and assess their effectiveness.
-
Support the development and implementation of safety programmes across bases and deployments.
-
Promote safety culture across P133/P135 operations and the wider business.

Provide performance analysis and reporting for SMS activities.
-
Participate in management and safety meetings, including producing minutes and action tracking.

Support other Safety Managers as required.

Provide regular reporting to the Director of Safety on SMS performance and improvements.

Develop and maintain a strong safety culture across all departments, with focus on P133/P135 operations.

Conduct staff performance monitoring and appraisals; provide coaching and training.

Maintain disciplined management of tasks, deadlines, and safety priorities.

Mentor and support development programmes for safety personnel.

Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality work delivery.

Maintain confidentiality of all operational and safety information.
-
Provide honest feedback regarding management’s support of the SMS.
Qualifications
-
Hold or have previously held an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) for air operators/training organisations, or
-
Hold an Aviation Maintenance Engineer Certificate / Airframe & Powerplant License / Certificate for repair stations.

Training preferred in at least one of the following:

Experience & Skills
-
7+ years aviation experience, including at least 2 years in a relevant operational environment.

3+ years’ experience in SMS implementation and continuous improvement.

Technical background sufficient to understand operational systems and processes.
-
Experience conducting safety/quality audits and inspections.
-
Strong knowledge of safety standards, safety investigations, and regulatory frameworks.
-
Experience in aircraft accident investigation.
-
Strong data-analysis and reporting capability.
-
Understanding of human-factors principles.
-
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project-management skills.
-
Must not be part of any other operational system within the organisation.
