Field Service Engineer – EV Charging

📍 London (UK-wide travel required)
💰 £35,700 – £48,300 DOE + Benefits

We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join a leading name in the UK’s EV charging infrastructure sector.

In this hands-on field-based role, you’ll be responsible for the commissioning, maintenance, and repair of AC Chargers, Rapid DC, Ultra and High-Power Charging (HPC) units across multiple sites nationwide.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives working independently, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to play a key role in supporting the UK’s transition to cleaner transport.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission, maintain and repair AC, Rapid DC, Ultra and HPC EV chargers.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical faults efficiently on client sites.

  • Work across a variety of environments including outdoor and confined spaces.

  • Ensure chargers operate at peak performance and meet strict quality standards.

  • Provide clear communication and excellent customer service at every site.

  • Travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.

 

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification (or equivalent).

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a field-based electrical engineering role.

  • Confident working independently and resolving technical issues on site.

  • Familiarity with basic test and measurement equipment (e.g. multimeters, voltage testers).

  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Valid UK driving licence (6 penalty points or less).

 

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • BS7671:2018 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations).

  • City & Guilds 2391/2394 Testing and Inspection.

  • Previous experience in EV charging, renewable energy or power electronics sectors.

  • Manufacturer-specific EV charger training or certifications.

  • Proven experience working on Rapid DC, Ultra and HPC chargers.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.

  • Understanding of analogue & digital electronics and on-site H&S standards.
