Job Description

Volantes Technical Recruitment are seeking a Tool room assistant for a leading business jet client in the Dorset area.

Responsibilities:
Tool Room

  • Take sole responsibility for the control of all tooling iaw CAA regulations
  • Effective self-management and performance ownership of the tool store
  • Ensure accurate and accountable records of all tools used by engineering
  • Ensure accurate records of all tools transferred between departments and facilities are maintained
  • Maintain the effective repair and calibration of tooling in circulation
  • Ensure the robust inspection of all tooling before and after use to ensure all damage is detected
  • Ensure compliance is maintained at all times including:

Tools are signed out correctly to person, WO and Squawk
Tools are always returned post use
Tools are always clean and ready for use
Tools are always calibrated

  • Ensure a picture library and barcoding is maintained with all owned tooling
  • Ensure all loan tooling is received into the loan tool grid and recorded to the P-145 on use
  • Support aircraft maintenance checks undertaken at remote bases
  • Forward planning and coordination with engineering is conducted
  • Hands on approach to counter service, tool control


Communicate

  • Mature sustainable relationships with management and engineering regarding tooling
  • Ensure timely updates to the ESL of all calibrated tooling and their respective schedules


Compliance

  • Ensure tools are removed from use when calibration expires
  • Audit Tooling iaw with policy and ensure compliance


Consumable Purchasing

  • Ensure the cost-effective procurement of commercial stocks to meet the needs of the ESL
  • Deliver accurate and representative stock holdings iaw recognised calculations and provisions
  • Ensure accuracy of all calibration orders inclusive of cost, purchasing method and linked requisitions
  • Ensure expediting is conducted, recorded and uploaded to the MRP system


Business Reporting/Wider Duties

  • Communicating regularly with the external Base & Line Managers to ensure tool control is maintained
  • Review tool transfer and calibration records for non-supported external facilities
  • Weekly and Monthly reporting to the Stores Supervisor & Head of Supply Chain on:

Status of all Tooling Calibration Records
Internal Service Records
Broken / damaged tooling
Commercial Stock requests

  • Support to the wider business as reasonably requested
  • Liaison with deployed base facilities to ensure tooling requirements are met
  • Aiding the department where it is most needed


Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:

Essential

  • An understanding of aviation tooling and general commercial purchasing
  • Organised, systematic and a professional manner
  • Proficient in IT and application software
  • Proactive at issue identification and resolution
  • High levels of accuracy, attention to detail and uses initiative
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written


Advantageous

  • A sound capability to calculate and formulate commercial “low value” stock levels iaw usage
