Engineering Manager – Rotary Wing

Volantes, on behalf of our long standing Australia based client are looking for an Engineering Manager.
Our client is a leading maintenance and repair organisation (MRO) specialising in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
We’re currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Manager – Rotary Wing to join their growing operation in Cairns, North Queensland.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing the Rotary Wing Engineering Department and ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities for matters covered under the MOE.

Lead and guide maintenance personnel to ensure daily activities are performed in line with company procedures and aviation standards.

Oversee manpower planning and rostering in compliance with fatigue management rules.

Manage the engineering facilities to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Provide strong management support to Technical Services and ensure adequate storage for tools, equipment, and materials.

Ensure sufficient competent personnel are in place to plan, perform, supervise, inspect, and certify maintenance activities.

Project manage all approved maintenance checks, working closely with the engineering team.

Guarantee availability and serviceability of tools, equipment, and materials required to complete planned tasks.

Ensure all maintenance is correctly certified and records are securely retained in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Maintain strict compliance with organisational procedures and standards throughout all maintenance activities.

Uphold high-quality workmanship in line with regulatory and organisational standards.

Manage personnel competency through the company training program in accordance with MOE requirements.

Liaise with internal stakeholders to support quoting and pricing for new projects and line maintenance work.

Respond to quality deficiencies identified through internal or external audits.

Conduct performance reviews, toolbox talks, team briefings, and participate in company meetings as required.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of Part 145 MOS and ensure ongoing compliance with approval ratings and CASR 1998.

Actively promote the Safety Management System and champion the integration of human factors and performance principles within the engineering teams.

Drive customer engagement and ensure service delivery meets agreed standards and expectations.
What You’ll Bring

Proven management experience within an aviation maintenance environment or similar.

Relevant qualifications such as an Advanced Diploma of Aviation Management (Avionics or Mechanical) or equivalent units of competency.

Strong working knowledge of CASA Part 42, 145 and CAR 30 regulations.

An Aircraft Engineering Licence relevant to rotary wing aircraft.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar management role.

Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and compliance.
